“The space that defines the boundary between public and private is often an element that distinguishes the very character of a city: from the atrium of the Roman domus to the wooden gates of Ottoman centers, from the Ionic columns of Bath to the neoclassical gables of the Adelphi houses in London, from the entrances under the arcades of the Rue de Rivoli to the sentry boxes with armed guards in São Paulo, Brazil…” – Donatella Calabi
The concept of the ‘threshold’ at the scale of the city
Talk and aperitif: starting at 6 p.m., Donatella Calabi, city historian, talks with Stefano Zaggia, professor of History of Architecture at the University of Padua.
The appointments designed to deepen DoorScape begin in Carlo Scarpa Garden. Each time is a unique opportunity to meet photographers, architects, philosophers, historians, designers and talk with them: dialogues beyond the classic conference that recover the multidisciplinary nature of the project.
What is entrance architecture for a city historian? How does a landscape designer or photographer approach the concept of the threshold? The element of the threshold, present in everyone’s lives, in Querini becomes metaphorically and literally a point of encounter.
Entrance by reservation by filling in the form at this link
The talk will be in Italian language.
