A new relationship between the Fondazione Querini Stampalia and Peace’n’Spice sees the creation of the new Querini Café.
Opening in mid-April, the café’s combination of flavours and colours springs from a meeting of Italian cuisine and the Middle East, where Hadi and Ali Khan come from. The menu is inspired by the countries they ventured through, and the countries of those who travelled alongside them and who shared meals with them: Iran, Syria and Turkey.
This colourful migrant cuisine makes its home at the Querini among the contemporary arrases designed by Maria Morganti. The artist’s works, which have hung on the walls since 2017, invite you to take a break while still being surrounded by art. The café thus becomes part of a convivial route of exchange and discovery along unimaginable routes. It inspires and surprises just like the Querini. For Hadi and Ali Khan eating and drinking means travelling. They have invented some cocktails using spices, key ingredients that tell one of the many tales connected to the café – their own.
