EVENT

Bibliothèque reimagines the experience of the public in the spaces of the Querini Stampalia, to engage everyone in an exhibition program of art, music and performance.

Bibliothèque, a term that refers etymologically to the word ‘téca’ (treasure chest, box in which what is rare or precious is kept) and plays by assonance with the term ‘discotheque’ and explores multiple expressive possibilities: it reinterprets human and natural phenomena and boundaries between different disciplines, searching for new connections between light, space, sound and movement, while also questioning issues surrounding climate change, proposing new community possibilities in Venice.

The event, curated by Chiara Ascari with coordination by Isabella Picchi and graphic and communication project by Nicolò Pellarin, features Fabrica with artists Davide Balda (Italy), Roberto Cannarile (Italy), Allison Costa (USA), Stefano De Alessandri (Italy), Joe Habben (UK), as well as the presence of Fuse multidisciplinary art studio; Thuono Audio (Eleonora Bonollo, Mattia Rigon); Fulvia Larena and Iacopo Prinetti together with Libreria Rupture, Edicola 518, TBD Ultramagazine.

PROGRAM

The event opens at 5 p.m. with a presentation of the project. This is followed by a talk by Fuse, with a focus on their artistic practice, including machine learning and connections between space, sound and movement, elements captured in the art projects on display.

From 6 p.m., in the Scapa area, people can experience Thuono Audio’s innovative T400 turntable, which will play a selection of vinyls curated by Ice Cream (Simone Spinazzè) and MINIERA (Giuseppe Armogida and Marco Folco), Roberto Cannalire‘s ‘Carlo Here Again’ continuous projection video installation, and the exhibition of the ‘Artificial Botany’ project, launched by Fuse in 2019.

The library space hosts the exhibition of Davide Balda‘s ‘Telare La Materia’ project, the visual-video game essay ‘J’adore Venise – on disappearing bodies’ by Stefano Dealessandri, Allison Costa‘s two-channel video ‘Movement Ecology’ accompanied by her own choreography (duration 20′), and the sound performance ‘NUANCE02’ by GIANG (Diacronie, Giangiacomo Gallo).

One of the library rooms also gives its usual function a new lease of life, hosting Fulvia Larena and Iacopo Prinetti‘s anthology of magazines and art books, with a site-specific installation by Juliana zu Stolberg.

Joe Habben‘s ‘Here we Live Here we Stay’ installation is set up in Corte Mazzariol, where the bar/wine bar Ozio, the environmental project The Tidal Garden and the Ca’ de Memi store will offer a selection of natural and organic wines, artisanal beverages and local food products for the duration of the event.

From 8 to 11 p.m. there will be a DJ set by Stefania Vos, with custom video projection by artsit Allison Costa.

You will find the full program for the evening shortly.

Participation in the event is free, excluding drinks. Registration is required to participate at this link.
